The biggest risk facing operations is the unguided use of artificial intelligence tools by its own people.

AI compliance

Almost all operations have no policy or procedure for managing AI.  Or if they do, it is not based on proven best practice.   This is not surprising as generative AI is moving faster than a considered approach allows.

Without a viable compliance framework, no organisation is protected from misuse or rogue behaviour.  This attached primer establishes the need, the steps as a framework for safe AI operation

A future for education? How to make AI safe.

I have 15 years working in Instructional Design to produce learning that meets needs.  Designers need to lead in making AI safe for people and operations.

While I have seen educational technology evolve, generative AI tools are a seismic change.  A powerful productivity tool, without operational policy, the huge learning upside of AI will be lost.  An operation without clear guidelines is the literal accident waiting to happen.

Artificial intelligence is not tomorrow.  Students, teachers and employees use generative tools today.  Crearting policy to support and guide users of AI is not negotiable.

Fact

Artificial intelligence relies on natural language processing without understanding.  AI is a magic trick that relies on webpages, Wikipedia and public/private opinion to create content.  This doesn't make it bad or any less of a useful - it is a tool and not a thinking person.

I created a free AI primer which you can find here.

About me

Portfolio

This is a collection of examples built in Storyline using a range of techniques and proven to be effective.  I have added an AI I trained too called Butters.

Chat with my AI

A trained AI I made of my cat Butters.  Talk to her.

Storytelling

Creating engaging learner experiences to enhance education using online learning

Quiz Design

Assessment quizware for learner competency assessment with LMS reporting

responsive

Interactive learner input - learn through doing - show rather than tell

A CASE STUDY IN LEARNING DESIGN

I use the ADDIE model to develop learning.  A methodical approach, this model ensures the training delivered engages target learners.  Over 5 screens I briefly explain my process.

To navigate these screens click either  the icons  "<"  &  ">" on the left and right

or click the dots below.

Design Tools

This is a collection of the core tools I use to create learning experiences - from early prototype/boards to development and finally loading to a learning system.

Click the icons below to open the tools in a new window.

I use Figma to build concept learning to demonstrate interactions before building.

STORYBOARDING

I make boards to conceptualise flow and content.  I typically use powerpoint to do this.

AUTHORING

I build learning in Articulate 360 and Captivate as SCORM/Tin Can and web packages.

LMS

I build Learning Management Systems (Moodle and SAP Litmos).
